General description of the collection: Edmund Clark papers include 222 wartime letters written home (July 1942-Feb 1945). These describe his life as a trainee (Kessler, Great Bend, Lowry Fields); instructor and technician (Hammer Field); and his unsuccessful attempt to enter Officer Candidate School and the Army Student Training Program. Includes letters written during his unassigned and replacement duty until sent to Saipan with the 2nd Aircraft Repair Unit. Also contains description of various aspects of military life of the soldiers during WWII including money problems, gambling, dating, outside employment, and war marriages.
